For the past decade, Sabre’s corporate philanthropy and outreach efforts have supported the communities where our employees live and work. Through our global signature employee programs, such as Travel For Good, Give Time Together global volunteer week, and Give Together global employee giving campaign, Sabre has donated $14 million and more than 150,000 volunteer hours towards causes meaningful to our employees in 30 countries.
As part of our “Better Travel, Better World” commitment, Sabre is a partner in MASSIVEGOOD, a new fundraising movement that enables travelers to make a “micro-contribution” towards major global health causes every time they buy an air ticket, reserve a hotel room or rent a car. Travelers in the U.S will be able to make a $2 contribution through participating Sabre travel agencies and at http://www.travelocity.com/travelforgood. The funds will go towards fighting HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, and to improving the dismal state of maternal and child health in the developing world. Travelers in the UK will soon be able to contribute too.
Created by the Millennium Foundation, with the support of the global travel and tourism industry, MASSIVEGOOD has the potential to raise millions more for global health. Funds will be distributed to UNITAID, a new and innovative organization that has already saved thousands of lives by lowering the price and increasing the availability of key treatments in poor countries.
MASSIVEGOOD is the first major fundraising initiative launched by The Millennium Foundation, whose mission is to mobilize new sources of innovative funding to achieve the three health-related Millennium Development Goals agreed to by the United Nations in 2000: to treat and fight life-threatening diseases, including HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis; to reduce childhood mortality; and to improve maternal health. Sabre is proud to now be a partner in the MASSIVEGOOD movement as one more way to make the world a better place for us all.
